Spaces
A team organises its boards into spaces. What a space is, who can walk into one, and what that means for links, search and the library.
Your team home is a stack of sections: My boards at the top, Shared with me, then one section for every space you belong to. A space is a shared shelf of boards that every member of it can open and edit, with its own shelf in the team library to catch what those boards produce. Team admins create spaces and decide who is in them; there is no join button. One space is the team's default, and joining the team puts you into it, which is why you land somewhere rather than nowhere. The sidebar lists the spaces you belong to, and clicking one opens it. ## My boards Every member gets a My boards: a personal run of boards inside the team, where nothing is shared with teammates and nothing appears on anyone else's home. It is not invisible, though. This is a company account, so team admins can see My boards from the team console. Draft there freely. When something is ready for the room, a team admin moves it into a space from the Boards tab, and it takes its assets and any board invites with it. ## Open, private, hidden Every space carries one of three visibility settings. | Setting | For non-members | |---|---| | **Open** | Visit and look around, read-only | | **Private** | The name and the member count, nothing inside | | **Hidden** | Not there at all | Visiting an open space is deliberately window-shopping. A banner says "You can look around", and every control that would generate, upload or edit is put away rather than greyed out. What you can see you can copy: take anything from an open board into your own work and carry on there. Search follows the same line. Boards in open spaces turn up in team search even when the space is not on your sidebar; private and hidden spaces never surface, whatever the query. :::note[A board invite cuts through] Any team member can still be invited to a single board, as editor or viewer, including a board in a private space. That is the point of the invite: one board opens, the space around it stays closed. It survives if the board later moves. ::: ## Running the team from /manage The team console lives at /manage, and plain members never see it. Team admins get all of it, including: the People table (everyone, with chips for their spaces and bulk add and remove), the Spaces tab (create, rename, set open, private or hidden, choose the default, delete), the Boards tab (every board, its space, and the move control), the Credits tab, an Activity log of membership, board and space changes, and the team settings. A space admin, appointed per space, gets the People, Spaces and Boards tabs scoped to the spaces they run: their members, their boards, nothing team-wide. Moving a board between two spaces needs admin rights on both ends. Removing somebody from a space takes away the space, not the work. The boards they made there stay put. Who holds which team-wide role is covered in [managing members and roles](/docs/team-spaces/managing-members-and-roles/). ## One switch for public links Settings holds a team-wide switch for public links, under Sharing. Turned off, it does two things at once: nobody can mint a new link, and every existing link stops answering. Nothing is deleted, so turning it back on restores the same URLs. Visibility adds its own wall. A board in a private or hidden space cannot be shared publicly at all, whatever the switch says, and flipping a space to private cuts its boards' existing links on the spot. Boards in My boards follow only the switch. Beside it sit All assets, which stacks every shelf you can open into one view, and one shelf per space you belong to. First among those is the default space's shelf, which serves as the team's shared one: logos, brand sets, anything everybody reaches for. An asset belongs to the space its board is in. Generate on a board in an open space and the result lands on that space's shelf; move the board and its assets move home with it. Shelves are for members only, even in an open space.
